    13th – Hornsea/Wassand – as 27th Feb, but no Bean Goose, Buzzard, or Jay, but with Oystercatcher (2).

    14th – Pulfin Bog – Kingfisher (2), Fieldfare (2), Snipe, Redshank (6+), Wigeon (80+), Teal, Kestrel, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Lapwing, Curlew (30+), Reed Bunting & Pied Wagtail (4).

     

    Week commencing 3rd March

    3rd –Allerthorpe - as 26th & 28th, but no Skylark or Crossbill, but present were: Lesser Redpoll (30+), Jay (3+),

    Treecreeper (2), mixed flock of (c.50) Linnets, Greenfinches & Goldfinches.

    4th – North Cave Wetlands – Green Woodpecker (2, courting), Brambling, Goosander (4), Siskin (2), Snipe (4+),

    Oystercatcher (35+), Skylark (13+), Shelduck, Gadwall, Shoveler, Teal, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Redshank, Lapwing,

    Great Crested Grebe (4+), Little Grebe (8+), Meadow Pipit, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Jackdaw,

    Rook (mating), Long-tailed, Blue & Great Tits, Reed Bunting, Tree Sparrow etc.

    5th – Allerthorpe – as 3rd, but no Buzzard or Jay, but present Skylark (2), Great Spotted Woodpecker (3+),

    Lesser Redpoll (6+), Fieldfare (20+) & Mistle Thrush (h).

    6th – am – North Cave Wetlands – as 4th, but no Brambling, Siskin, Green Woodpecker or Goosander,

    but present were: Linnet (c.20), Shelduck (30+), Ringed Plover, Snipe (3).

    pm – Humber Bridge Country Park – Goldcrest (3+), Bullfinch (4), Song Thrush (4), Kestrel, Treecreeper (h),

    Long-tailed, Great & Blue Tits, Magpie, Moorhen, Carrion Crow, Blackbird, Robin, Wren & Dunnock.

    7th – Allerthorpe – as 5th, but present Skylark, Jay, Lesser Redpoll (c.50), Teal (4) & Curlew.

    25th – Kiplingcotes Station – as 22nd, but Buzzard (2).

    26th – Allerthorpe – Stonechat (2, pm), Buzzard, Green Woodpecker (2), Lesser Redpoll (2), Siskin (3), Marsh Tit (pm),

    Great Spotted Woodpecker (h), Coal Tit (c10), Goldcrest (h), Fieldfare (20+), Skylark, Goldfinch, Chaffinch,

    Tree Sparrow, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit.

    27th – Hornsea Mere/Wassand – Bean Goose, Buzzard (3), Redwing (4), Goldcrest, Treecreeper, Great Spotted Woodpecker,

    Jay (2h), Heron (3), Cormorant, Goldeneye, Ruddy Duck, Tufted Duck, Lapwing, Song Thrush (6+), Goldfinch, Greenfinch,

    Chaffinch, Grey Lag Goose, Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Little Grebe & Kestrel.

    28th – Allerthorpe – as 26th, but Skylark (2), Crossbill (2), Lesser Redpoll (14, incl prime male), Jay (3), Green Woodpecker (2),

    Yellowhammer (2), Tawny Owl (2h), Tree Sparrow (4), Great Spotted Woodpecker; but no Buzzard or Fieldfare.

    29th – Hornsea – as 27/2/08, as 27th, but no Redwing, Bean Goose or Buzzard, but Woodcock, Treecreeper (2),

    more Great Spotted Woodpecker activity & brief view of a Jay.

     

    Winter Term

    Week commencing 18th February

    18th – Hornsea Mere & Wassand – Treecreeper, Goldcrest, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Heron, Goldeneye, Pochard,

    Tufted Duck, Stock Dove, Song Thrush, Long-tailed, Coal, Blue & Great Tits, & Woodpigeon.

    19th – Potteric Carr – Lesser Redpoll (prime male), Bittern, Water Rail (2), Kingfisher, Jay (pm), Willow Tit (2+), Siskin,

    Reed Bunting, Long-tailed, Blue, Coal & Great Tits, Redwing, Sparrowhawk, Teal, Kestrel, Shelduck, Shoveler, Gadwall,

    Lesser-Black Backed, Common & Black-headed Gulls, Song Thrush.

    20th – Kiplingcotes Station – as 12th, no Redpoll or Buzzard, but Redwing & Fieldfare.

    21st – Potteric Carr – as 19th, but no Bittern or Redpoll. There were at least 5 male Reed Buntings & 3 females at the Willow Pool feeding station.

    22nd – Kiplingcotes Station – as 20th, but no Red Kite.Bullfinch (flock of 15 with other pairs along the Hudson Way)

    11th - Humber Bridge Park – as 30th January, but including a male Brambling.

    12th – Kiplingcotes Station – Red Kite (2), Lesser Redpoll, Bullfinch, Buzzard, Yellowhammer, Wren, Goldcrest,

    Red Legged Partridge, Grey Partridge, Linnet, Skylark, Fieldfare, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Kestrel, Pheasant, Black-headed,

    Common & Herring Gulls.

    13th – North Cave Wetlands – Green (2) & Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Buzzard (3), Goldeneye (female), Wigeon (4),

    Skylark, Grey Partridge, Teal, Snipe, Fieldfare, Redwing, Oystercatcher, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Long-tailed, Blue, & Great Tits,

    Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Wren, Great-crested & Little Grebes, Pochard, Gadwall, Lapwing, Reed Bunting, Meadow Pipit,

     pm – North Cave Wetlands – as 13th, no Great Spotted Woodpecker, but better views of Green Woodpecker.

    8th - Tophill Low - as 6th, but 3 Smew, drake Pintail & 2 Hares boxing

    Carrion Crow, Magpie, Dunnock, Robin, Wren & Moorhen.

    31st – Tophill Low – as 29th, fewer songbirds singing, but also Pintail (2) & Barn Owl. Goshawk & American Wigeon

    reported, but not seen during our sessions.

    1st February – Humber Bridge Country Park, as 30th, but no woodpecker. However, there was a pair of Mistle Thrush.
